Personal Statement

My perspective is based on empathy, attachment and understanding. I believe that each person in a relationship can be satisfied when his/her partner meets the basic needs of safety and security. I have completed additional training in couple’s therapy at the Externship for Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman’s Level One Couple’s Therapy Training. I believe that couples that are struggling with connection can have deeper and more nourishing bonds through empathy training and evaluation of underlying emotional needs. I continue to study relationships and plan to complete certification in the EFT model.

I will listen to you; try to make you feel comfortable and safe and work alongside you as you work towards your goals. Making change can be both challenging and rewarding, and some times the road turns in unexpected directions. As you navigate, I will offer a different perspective, tools like GPS, as well as support if the road becomes turbulent.

I also have particular interest in shame and how it relates to perception of attachment needs. I work with individuals who want to build his/her own personal strength, value and sense of self. Working with many populations and ethnicities both enrich me as a therapist and the clients I serve. Everyone is welcome because everyone deserves happiness.

Office Address

Crystal Gillery, LMFT

Working in the mental health field is unique. As therapists, we are with people during the most difficult and challenging moments in their lives. We practice empathy, non-judgement and care while using skills learned in graduate courses but our most important asset for our clients is ourselves. When CURA was created, Dawn and Crystal had the primary goal to take care of the therapist who takes care of you. Our thought was a healthy clinician can provide better more comprehensive care for clients
