I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri with 25 years of experience in providing clinical and therapeutic services. I have worked with individuals across the age spectrum, with couples, and with families facing difficulties related to relationship issues, depression, anxiety, family conflict, and emotional/behavioral challenges secondary to medical and neurocognitive conditions. My training and professional experiences have taken place across numerous settings, including community mental health centers, hospitals, clinical treatment trials, and in private practice.

My practice incorporates my training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy, and is further informed by mindfulness-based approaches and positive psychology. I effectively integrate modalities to tailor treatment for each individual. At the heart of my treatment philosophy is the idea that a focus on enhancing relationships is key to greater well-being – this includes our relationships with others, but also involves how we relate to ourselves, including our own thoughts and emotions. We often deny or turn away from uncomfortable emotions that are actually appropriate responses to life circumstances, and this "turning away" can keep us feeling stuck. Thus, I help clients lean toward and accept these feelings, and I also empower clients to develop effective ways of responding to life’s challenges and take action to move toward their goals and discover what is most important and meaningful to them.
