Hi there, I'm LaVina! My name is Lavina Ellison. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. #138663 My approach I apply a variety of therapeutic approaches to aid in my clients reaching their goals. The most common theoretical approaches I use are CBT, Solution Focused, Psychodynamic, and Client-Centered. My focus I typically work with clients dealing with Relationship issues, grief, behavior issues, depression, trauma, anxiety, and low self-esteem. I tend to thrive with clients dealing with depression, trauma, anxiety, and low self-esteem. My communication style I offer a non-judgmental space to aid in my clients feeling like they can be themselves and keep it real in session. I am very compassionate and utilize active listening to help clients feel heard and supported. I am also quite direct at times to help my clients challenge and move past therapeutic roadblocks. My journey to therapy In my life, I encountered two awesome therapists that absolutely revolutionized my thinking patterns about myself. They were so impactful that I said to myself "I want to do this for people!" I am driven by the desire to help people heal and reconstruct their lives for the better. My goals for you I approach goal setting as a collaborative effort between me and my client. For me, goal setting is one of the first steps towards autonomy for the client. My first session with you In the 1st session, the client will be met with warmth and respect as I explain informed consent, explain confidentiality, and its exceptions. Then I will take the client through the appropriate assessment to identify the reasons they desire therapy.
