About
I have been licensed since 2004, first as an Associate MFT then and LMFT. I have worked in the areas of child abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse, guidance counselor of a school and now my private practice. I use a variety of counseling approaches, based on client needs and what style I feel may work best for them. I opened my own practice, Family Journeys, LLC in 2019 and have been seeing individuals, couples and families with hopes to improve lives, marriages and families long term.
I have experience in a variety of therapeutic settings prior to private practice, from early training at an inpatient psychiatric hospital to a battered women's shelter. My advocacy work was so meaningful to me and valuable to developing me as a marriage and family therapist. My guidance counseling position enabled me to see children in a different light. While in a school setting, I was able to be a part of children's adaptation to an academic and social environment while using my family systems knowledge to serve them best.
I am a wife and a mother. I opened my own practice and attended an Ethics and Tele-mental Health webinar so that I can offer my services to a variety of people, while making my own hours and being available for my children's needs and activities. To me, family is first priority. One of my favorite quotes is that of Mother Teresa's "If you want to change the world, go home and take care of your family." It is my hope that my knowledge and experience can give those who I come in contact with a little support along the journey and better their's and their families lives.
