About
I am licensed as an LPC in Mississippi with 12 years of professional work experience in mental health. I have worked as a school counselor for the past 16 years. I have experience in helping clients with family conflicts & coping with life changes. I am here to provide you with assistance and guidance to support and improve your social/emotional well-being. I consider myself to be a bridge and an advocate for my clients. While I cannot predict the outcome of my therapeutic interactions with you, it is my goals to do all I can to help you.
The purpose of the counseling practice is to help clients resolve and work through any problems he or she may be experiencing. My goal is to help you to become equipped with the tools necessary to have a satisfying life. Individual sessions will last from 30 to 45 minutes. During sessions, you will be allowed to express your opinions. The counselor listens to and assists clients in identifying behaviors and thoughts that are not beneficial. The counselor does this to help clients discover new behaviors to help them improve unsatisfying situations. The discovery process requires both the counselor and client to work together. Thus, a productive counseling relationship requires that the client and counselor be responsible for certain levels of work. Therefore, facilitating effective communication is essential in helping clients.
My theoretical approach is cognitive behavioral therapy.
Confidentiality is important in any counseling relationship. It is an ethical requirement. Any personal information discussed during the intake or during sessions will not be disclosed. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. Exceptions to this rule apply when information will protect the client or others from harm.
Counseling is a collaborative effort between me and you. A client’s honesty and openness are integral parts of success. As the counselor, I am here to help you think through decisions and consider all possibilities and consequences related to those decisions. I expect for clients to share any concerns or suggestions that may help me to better able to assist them. As a counselor, I can only help you as much as you allow me to. Please know that you are not required to do anything that you do not want to do, refusal to adhere to recommended services could limit your progress, so please inform me so that we can work to improve the quality of our sessions. However, if you are still dissatisfied, you may choose to end your sessions at any time or request a referral to a different counselor.
Finally, I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.
