About
Welcome, I am Irene Freeman, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Missouri.
In a life of challenging experiences reaching out for support can be difficult. Finding the right professional "fit" is important for fostering trust and personal growth. I emphasize the perspective of non-judgmental acceptance. My counseling style is deeply interactive and focused on the dynamics of personal experience, relationships, thoughts, and the bodies we inhabit. Compassion for ourselves is the root of growth and is fostered by compassionate connections with others.
I earned a Master of Social Work degree from Missouri State University and have worked in the mental health field for 11 years. In that time I have been privileged to work with clients of all ages across a broad variety of needs. Depression, anxiety, interpersonal issues, stress, and trauma are of particular interest. Sessions often focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in a trauma-informed environment and integrate elements of EMDR, mindfulness, self-acceptance, and the dynamics of body/mind experiences.
Each therapeutic relationship is unique and defined by the people in it. Creating a new therapy suited to a client's experiences, needs, and goals is essential to building a strong and respectful connection.
I look forward to meeting you!
