About

Hi there, I'm Dr. Carman! Dr. Carman S. Clark, LPC. My approach is interpersonal, compassionate, and healing. I focus on issues of sexual abuse trauma, anxiety, major depression, grief, and medical issues. Everyone has a story to tell and I am here to listen and help you heal. My approach is cognitive-behavioral; mindfulness; strengths-based; and trauma-focused awareness and healing. My most common theoretical approach tends to be rational-emotive therapy and compassionate intervention. I work mainly with adult individuals who are dealing with childhood trauma, stress on the job, grief, anxiety, depression, medical issues, or wants life coaching and positive transformation. I am most comfortable treating all of the above. I am an active listener. I hear both what is said and not said. However, I tell all of my clients that I don't judge them; I don't criticize, critique, or call names. I create a compassionate environment where the client can be their authentic self. Most clients who work with me say that I am really good at making them feel hopeful that healing is possible. They feel at peace. I learned early in life that humans don't come with instructions; so we mold into paradigms and systems of interpersonal beliefs that are not always psychologically healthy or helpful. What drives me to do this work is I am constantly intrigued by the resilience of the human spirit who wants to evolve into the best version of themselves. My approach is to help clients understand that goals are milestones toward becoming the best version of themselves. However, they must also be realistic and reasonably achievable. They should expect a warm welcome; an invitation to learn more about my practice techniques and help me understand what issues bring them to therapy.
