About

My name is Venetia Jordan, and I'm licensed in the state of GA as a professional counselor. I'm certified as a school counselor for the state as well. I have a very compassionate and empathetic approach to therapy and believe in working collaboratively with my clients to ensure that their needs are met, and they're able to achieve their therapy goals. While I'm comfortable using each of the theoretical approaches, my most commonly used are cognitive-behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy. The modality used will be dependent on the needs of the individual. I work with a wide range of issues, including various forms of trauma, depression, anxiety, chronic illness, domestic violence, substance abuse, anger management, and more. Clients typically describe me as warm, compassionate, easy to talk to, and funny. I really do my best to make sure that clients feel comfortable with me, that they feel seen and heard, and that they know that I'm going to give my all to ensure that their needs are met each session. My own experiences and childhood led me on the path of becoming both a mental health therapist and a school counselor. I was encouraged by my high school counselor to pursue this field, but I was hesitant. He learned of my traumatic childhood experiences and pushed me even harder for me to follow this path. I absolutely love it! Although I can't prevent horrible things from happening in the lives of my clients, I'm grateful to get to walk alongside side them, even if briefly, as they work on healing and regaining a sense of calm within and around them. When setting goals for therapy, I allow my clients to share with me their expectations for counseling; their expected outcome. From there, we work in collaboration to define goals and objectives moving forward and to track progress toward each.
