Hi. My name is Andy and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Georgia. I have been counseling people for almost twenty years with the last five years being licensed. I have spent most of that time in the US Army as a Chaplain. During that time I spent time with an interesting variety of Americans. I have deployed multiple times across South West Asia.

I would say that about half of my counseling time is family relationship-communication problems with the other half being trauma related. This trauma is not just focused on combat, far from it. I have spent time with first responders and medical professionals, couples, families, veterans and young adults. In short, I have worked with people across all types of backgrounds and experiences. I have worked with people with a wide range of problems from anxiety to depression to trauma.

My method of treatment focuses on family relations. What this means is that I will ask lots of questions about your background, where you came from, what was it like in your family. Think of it as a family tree on steroids. This information is invaluable when it comes to treatment plans. I also work with Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

My style is warm and caring. We will spent precious time together, time getting to know one another and time working to find solutions to the problems that brought you to us. I am not someone who takes short cuts to get to a quick answer for you. I don't believe in a one size fits all for problems.

Counseling is not easy and it certainly takes courage to admit that you need help , to admit that the problems of this world are weighing you down and you are not certain what to do. I am grateful that you have realized this and have reached out for help.
