Personal Statement

After a number of years working in social service/child welfare settings, in direct care services in an adult residential setting, and as a Mental Health Paraprofessional, I obtained a Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Harding University. My education also includes an undergraduate degree in Psychology, with a Minor in Rehabilitation Science and an emphasis in Child Welfare, from Arkansas Tech University.

In recent years, much of my work has involved treating children experiencing traumatic stress and adjustment to life stressors. My experience includes working with adults as well as children & adolescents ages three to 18, through community mental health centers, school-based, in-home, and outpatient settings. I have provided individual, group, and relationship therapies, as well as diagnostic assessments, treatment and discharge planning, needs and risk assessments, and crisis psychotherapy.
