Personal Statement
We often believe that in order to find moments of peace and aliveness, we must struggle to overcome a long list of personal and situational flaws. I help clients discover the joyful truth: that even in our imperfections, those moments are available to us now.
As in traditional psychotherapy, I offer my clients a chance to be heard and reflected, supported and understood. I help my clients gain compassion for themselves, often by examining the assumptions and damaging beliefs of prevailing social and cultural norms. Going further, psychotherapy with me can be dynamic and lively, bringing the here and now into focus, and working to promote real change within the session itself.
My therapeutic style tends to be a balance of gaining insight and adopting practical strategies for change. My work with couples tends to rely more heavily on the latter, I teach tangible ways to improve communication, break harmful relational patterns and build intimacy.
