Personal Statement
My practice orientation is humanistic-existential and cognitive-behavioral. I focus on creating space to explore issues while utilizing evidenced-based strategies. I want to work together to understand more about you, help improve the current situation, and develop methods to apply to future issues. I have helped many people tame their anxiety and anger while improving creativity, intuition, and resilience. We will discover strengths and methods that support lasting change. I also blend in the philosophies of Taoism, Buddhism, and Existentialism.
I have been counseling since 2004 and graduated from University of Massachusetts Boston with a Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling. I specialize in humanistic psychology, cognitive-behavioral techniques, interpersonal skills, trauma-informed practices, mindfulness, and person-centered therapy.
SOME BACKGROUND ON ME
My path has allowed me to connect with people and observe personal growth. Once an aspiring filmmaker, I earned a bachelor's degree in Communications with a minor in Psychology. Instead of making films, I gravitated towards teaching filmmaking and curriculum development within a nonprofit media arts center. It soon struck me that I was driven and inspired by the personal growth of others. I began volunteering at a mental health crisis hotline, realized I found my calling, and went on to earn a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling.
