Personal Statement
I work to help those who struggle with anxiety, trauma or substance abuse issues. I strive to offer a compassionate space so that you can find your own healing path towards healthier living. The type of therapy that I use is dependent on your needs and your particular situation. Choosing to seek help is a courageous act and we will work together to figure out how to best change your unhealthy thoughts and destructive behaviors and then learn to work differently with intense emotional states. We will work beyond just trying to think more positive.
I have dedicated my post-graduate education to learning more about neurobiology, anxiety and trauma's affects on the brain and behavior. When appropriate, I teach mindfulness skills so you can go from surviving your life to thriving. Most importantly, I believe in you learning how to best help yourself.
Over the past three years I have been working towards becoming certified to teach mindfulness to adults and adolescents. As well, I have spent my professional time volunteering with military advocacy groups and military families. I am committed to combining these two passions to help community heal from war.
