Personal Statement

I treat adults seeking general psychotherapy EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) or those in need of specialized care for anxiety, depression, trauma, prolonged grief, reproductive issues. Lake Austin Psychotherapy also provides Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy for PTSD or Treatment Resistant Depression under the medical guidance of a board certified emergency physician with over 20 years experience in Ketamine administration.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I was a magazine writer. One of my favorite parts of the job was facilitating others’ stories from a new, empowered perspective. Stories evolve as they are told. People evolve as they are heard. Rather than a reflection of content, I believe therapy should feel like an insightful collaboration—a conversation versus broad clinical conceptualizations.

Professional development is important to me as a clinician. I am a member of the Professional Task Force of the American Counseling Association and an associate member of EMDRIA (EMDR International Association) which upholds the highest standard of EMDR for clinical use. I am also a member of Somatic Experiencing International and the Texas Counseling Association. I have written about mental health issues for a variety of outlets including The New York Times, Glamour, Self, Marie Claire and The Huffington Post. I have also appeared as a regular television consultant for Good Day New York, NY1 and Lifetime Television.
