Personal Statement

Marjorie Briand, MSW was born and raised in Concord, New Hampshire. She received a BA in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire in 1981 and a Masters of Social Work from the University of New Hampshire in 1999. For more than twenty five years she provided counseling, assessment and coaching services as an independent clinical consultant to human service agencies including NH Vocational Rehabilitation, NH Services for Blind and Visually Impaired, New Hampshire welfare offices and school departments. She has been a nationally certified rehabilitation counselor (CRC).

Along with Marjorie’s psychotherapy practice, her experience as a mental health clinician includes crisis intervention and stabilization services at local hospital emergency rooms as well as at Seacoast Mental Health Center. She is experienced in assessing crisis, levels of urgency, suicide risk, level of coping, violence level, mental status, crisis housing and emergency hospitalization. Marjorie serves on the NH Disaster Behavioral Health Response Team (DBHRT), a team of mental health professionals trained to respond to disasters.

Marjorie has served as Adjunct Faculty at New England College Graduate School Community Mental Health Program.

She is deeply committed to community service and served as a Commissioner to the Dover Housing Authority for thirty years.
