Personal Statement
Art is the first language of the senses, expressing with color, shape and texture, that which cannot be named. My greatest joy is guiding others to re-discover this "first language" and awaken the inherent artist and healer within each of us.
Through a combination of talk and art making directives, we will build a trusting therapeutic alliance, empowering you to discover your inner wisdom and innate creative nature.
Over the past thirty years , I've had the good fortune of working in a variety of settings with a wide range of individuals; pediatrics (Child Life), HIV/AID treatment programs, palliative & hospice care, bereavement support groups, inpatient psychiatric and medical detoxification settings, and now ,with the on going pandemic, online telehealth sessions through my private practice. Throughout all these various venues, the creative art process continually surprises me in it's swift and effective ability to express and contain experiences that cannot be put into words.
When both the verbal and non verbal, the left and right sides of our brain are able to work together, true healing occurs. We all have moments when we feel lost in the woods of our own mind. I will help you re-discover your inner compass which will empower you to find your unique healing path toward creating a life that you love. I look forward to the possibility of meeting you and beginning this journey together.
I have been inspired by the current neuroscience with evidence-based research, which proves the effective benefits of creative art therapy for all mental health issues.
