Personal Statement

We are never upset for the reason we think. We all find challenges in life and sometimes need help in sorting out solutions. I have been a private practice psychotherapist for over 30 years. I work with you where you are at with your current struggles. I have extensive post-graduate training in addictions, anxiety and depression. Although many of our life issues are certainly not funny, by developing “humor strategies” we can confront and cope with our difficult situations, dialysis, and pain issues.

I treat various medical issues, such as Parkinson's disease, traumatic brain injuries, dialysis, and chronic pain. I also work with caregivers for the chronically ill and elderly. My professional and personal experience with pain issues and caregiving for partners of people with neurocognitive issues give me a unique perspective to help others.

"Laughter may not be the best medicine - but it can certainly help." For over 25 years I've provided professional and community workshops on The Healing Power of Humor and Play, am a certified Laughter Leader and use Improvisational Comedy for anxiety and enhanced self-esteem.

Learning to laugh again - especially at ourselves - is the first step towards healing. My treatment modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Meditation and Improv Coaching.

I use humor and laughter in treatment. Although laughter may not be the "best" medicine, it certainly helps us cope with emotional and physical stressors
