Personal Statement
Using an integrative approach to therapy, I am engaging and interactive with my clients. In addition to mental, emotional and psychological health, I am also concerned with my clients’ physical and spiritual well being. My ultimate goal is to act as a guide, facilitator and coach in your journey. In my work I draw on psycho-dynamic, cognitive behavioral, humanistic and somatic therapies to help my clients move forward with their lives. I began my social work career and was licensed in New York City in 1990. Since then, I have additionally licensed in California and Florida.
Langniappe is a Telehealth group practice. I began working remotely many years ago. In 2017 I moved my practice completely online. Our vision is to provide a space where psychotherapy meets the needs of anyone who feels that they would benefit from it. At Langniappe we understand, all of the aspects of life that can impact mental health. Our aim is to create a space, where clients feel seen and heard by their therapist. We are especially encouraging to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) seeking therapy. Creating an easily accessible therapeutic space became important to me.
In the past, the practice of psychotherapy was based and founded on a set of principles, beliefs and values, that are not necessarily reflected in BIPOC clients who now regularly seek therapy. We continue to uphold fundamental clinical, legal and ethical principles of psychotherapy, as these protect the client. We also recognize the need, to broaden the breadth and scope of practice, to reflect inclusion in the therapeutic space.
