Personal Statement
I believe that even the most difficult symptom or behavior began as an earnest attempt to cope with something unmanageable. Understanding the purpose that symptom serves is a core component of the work of therapy. Unresolved feelings and beliefs can be explored and experienced, thus eliminating the need to hold on to a symptom that is no longer serving you. Incorporating skills to move away from the habit of using an unhelpful behavior gives a person a boost to finally break out of a difficult cycle. The creation of an authentic therapeutic relationship is the essential foundation from which the process of psychotherapy unfolds.
Lindy has been providing individual, couples, and group psychotherapy from a feminist relational psychodynamic orientation since 2004. Lindy specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, adolescent and young adult health, and LGBTQI health. Lindy also provides clinical supervision and consultation to clinicians in the field of social work and counseling.
