Personal Statement

I enjoy helping children and families who are struggling with a range of psychological and emotional challenges. I work with children who encounter difficulties related to trouble at school, anxiety, grief, abuse, sibling conflict, ADHD, and divorce.

My therapeutic style is open and accepting, and varies slightly depending upon the age of the client. With younger children, my goal is to ensure they feel successful and understood. I use play therapy with young children (2-6), allowing them free expression in a setting where they are natural and comfortable, while older children (6-9) respond well to activity therapy. Both give me the opportunity to work with parents, providing useful tools to improve relationships with their children.

Though I believe parents typically know their children better than anyone else, a thorough understanding of a child's particular communication style and behavioral motivations serves to enrich the parent-child relationship, and I am honored to be a part of that process.
