Personal Statement

My counseling practice takes a multiculturally-competent approach to empower individuals to achieve their goals while supporting lasting positive change in their lives.

The focus of my practice is helping adolescents and adults struggling with issues of anxiety, depression, and panic disorders, I can also help with PTSD, trauma, self-harm, self-esteem issues and struggles with sexual orientation and identity. Using the CBT-derived, “third-wave” therapy acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), along with mindfulness, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), my goal is to become an ally to clients as they identify their personal values and utilize new tools and techniques to achieve their goals. Recently, I have been trained in Brainspotting and have already found success using it to help clients.

Personally, in life and in my practice, I am passionate about social justice causes such as LGBTQ+ rights, racism, women’s rights, and environmental protection. I strive to meet people “where they are” with nothing but respect and without judgement. I hope to never stop learning and striving to create a positive difference in the lives of my clients and in my community.
