Personal Statement

I have been a therapist for over 15 years and have a diverse background of clinical experience. I have worked in an outpatient setting with HIV/AIDS infected and affected clients and families, couples therapy with those in recovery from addiction or alcoholism, eating disorder treatment, Christian counseling, individuals struggling with depression and anxiety, couples struggling with communication and trust, and individuals recovering from a bad breakup. Having such diverse clinical experience has helped in my approach to relate to my clients and validate their journey.

My approach to therapy is both practical and direct--I will challenge you in a gentle, firm, and humorous way. I believe that healing often comes through understanding, and insight can be a catalyst for change. When changing our behaviors, I often utilize DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) to teach practical skills that can be utilized in your daily life. For couples, I utilize techniques and interventions based off of the Gottman Method to quickly teach you and your partner improved communication skills.
