Personal Statement
Fred holds a Master of Community Counseling degree from Argosy University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. He has served the mental health community in a number of institutional and private settings that has provided a wealth of experience to draw upon when working with a client.
Fred uses a therapeutic inclusive approach believing that there is no “one size fits all” technique or theory. Basing his work on Rogerian concepts of self-determination, Fred believes each client has the innate talents to live a successful, fulfilling life. He sees his primary role in the therapeutic relationship as providing a safe environment where a client can explore life issues that might be problematic, then collaborate with each client and empower them to reach their full potential.
Fred has a very diverse clientele, ranging in age from 9 years old and up! He enjoys working with adolescents and their parents, people recovering from substance abuse, and adults in transition in the face of the loss of a significant other, job change, relocation or other life event. Using the training he has experience by studying and working with Gottman and Hendrix, he also enjoys working with couples who are preparing to make a long term commitment to each other, or who may be experiencing difficulty in their relationship.
