Personal Statement
I have been a Marriage & Family Therapist, and Guidance, Mental Health, Counselor for over two decades. I have also been a College Instructor who has taught Psychology, Human Relations, English, College Success Strategies, Speech and Oral Interpersonal Communication Courses. I promote being a Life long learner and utilize academics as a tool for growth in therapy.
I specialize in Suicide Prevention--especially for children, teens and young adults. As a Disabled, Native, Ojibwe woman, I also specialize in Minority and Vulnerable Populations.
I have spent many years in academics but have also trained and worked in the trenches of Domestic Violence. I have Directed Children's and Family programs for Domestic / Sexual Abuse as well as directed Adolescent Group Homes. I have also spent many years in Private Practice.
I have raised a "Blended Family" with step children, grew up with 12 siblings and took care of my elderly mother for 20 years. I now visit her in the nursing home 4 or 5 days a week.
