Personal Statement

People usually seek me out because they’re having trouble managing some combination of stress, depression, and relationship issues. Sometimes, after a little digging, I discover that many of these same people have quietly endured trauma—life-altering tragedies like child abuse, emotional neglect, or sexual violence. Others underestimate the traumatic impact of emotional abuse, bullying, or navigating the challenges of social inequity and prejudice. This layering of traumas big and small is known as complex trauma.

While there's nothing wrong with accepting the hand you've been dealt, sometimes it's worth a deeper dive—especially if you're stuck in familiar, self-sabotaging patterns. People with complex trauma often feel alone and misunderstood. Connecting with other people can be overwhelming. Our work will offer a safe harbor for you to explore learn, and be yourself.

As a writer, therapist, and survivor of complex trauma, I bring a deeply felt sense of compassion, discovery, and joy to each session. For me, there is nothing more rewarding than helping people with PTSD and complex trauma to develop fulfilling lives rich with meaning and purpose.
