Personal Statement
I have over 30 years of clinical experience working in hospitals and outpatient settings. For over 24 of the 30 years I have been in private practice. I’ve worked with many different problems and patients of all ages, though my practice is now limited to adults and couples. I go beyond helping with the specific reasons people come to me for treatment. I pay attention to the underlying causes of their problems, including factors that may be unconscious.
Using that perspective I collaborate with the client to craft a treatment that fits them. Some people want a treatment that is very practical and action-oriented, while others want treatment that goes deeper. I work with my patients to create an experience that matches their needs, personality and goals.
I have been extensively involved with professional organizations since early on in my career. I am currently a member of the board of directors of Chamade: A Call to Parley, a local organization that provides education and training in the resolution of prejudice and group differences.
