Personal Statement
Therapy isn’t always meant to make one comfortable and at ease, as it may stir old feelings or realizations about oneself. It is not magic and requires work from both the therapist and patient. Dr. Furman hopes to be an instrument for others to improve their lives and live their dreams.
I work with individuals, couples, and adolescents in both short-term and long-term therapy. Issues of depression, anxiety, relationship issues, etc. are all a focus depending on what is needed. I adapt my approach to each individual as everyone is different with varying needs and capacities. Mental relief works with understanding and tools to implement them.
In therapy, Dr. Furman focuses on in-depth issues stemming from early childhood, which correlate with current behaviors and attitudes. She is of the opinion that our very early relationships inform how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world. In both short-term and long-term therapy, she helps identify goals and how to achieve them, while also dealing with any current discomfort. Communication, awareness and better coping skills often alleviate and improve symptoms.
