Personal Statement

Dr. Lingen practices clinical psychology in his private practice in Walnut Creek, California. He works with adult clients in both individual and couples formats and he specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, major life transitions, and partner relational issues. In addition to his work as a psychotherapist, Dr. Lingen also specializes in Diagnostic Psychology, conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations and generating reports for occupational, pension, and legal purposes.

Have you reached an emotionally challenging point in your life and need a safe, accepting, non-judgmental space where you can work through your issues without someone else imposing their own agenda upon you? I have worked successfully with a very diverse group of clients, both individuals and couples, who have benefited from my individualized approach to helping people manage and work through issues of stress and anxiety, partner and family relational issues, trauma, depression, and a variety of major life transition issues that required careful navigation and thought before proceeding.

I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Wright Institute, Berkeley, a graduate school that is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association. I completed both my pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral residency in the Department of Psychiatry at CPMC Sutter Health, one of San Francisco’s largest and most prestigious hospitals. During my residency in the Department of Psychiatry I held the position of Chief Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow.
