Personal Statement
Dr. Simmonds provides individual (adult and adolescent), couples, and family therapy. His primary approach in individual therapy is cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic theory, and if appropriate, a spiritual integration approach. Dr. Simmonds has completed Level 3 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and uses Gottman Method couples' therapy in his work with couples. Dr. Simmonds is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Colorado, an ordained minister with a Ph.D. in Pastoral Counseling, a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.
He serves as the Executive Director for the Samaritan Counseling Center, providing supervision and education for the staff, in addition to providing counseling services for adults, couples and adolescents. He brings 35 years of counseling experience to the work of the Samaritan Center, and is currently the President of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.
