Personal Statement

My goal and life purpose is to provide individualized and compassionate care to adults, teenagers, and families in emotional crisis. Through this, I hope to relieve psychological pain and build a future that excites and motivates you. Together, we examine the patterns which have emerged in your life, work to understand their origin, and shift the patterns you no longer find helpful. I have been described as warm, authentic, and nonjudgemental. I take a humble and relational approach to therapy. I would be honored to be a part of your healing process. I know how difficult reaching out can be, so I always answer calls same business day.

Dr. Olivia Carelli earned her Psy.D. and M.S. in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Carelli primarily treats teenagers, adults, and families experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD, complex trauma/dissociation, eating disorders, borderline personality disorder, suicidality, self-harm, substance abuse, and bipolar disorder. Dr. Carelli practices from a relational model and often uses emotion-focused and person-centered interventions. She also incorporates more concrete skills, including the Unified Treatment Protocol, DBT, and CBT. However, she knows that trust and the therapeutic relationship are the most important aspects of healing. When treating teenagers, Dr. Carelli focuses on helping them develop emotional awareness and emphasizes building self-esteem.

For eating disorders, she uses a Health at Every Size (HAES) approach and communicates with your team: nutritionist, psychiatrist, and general practitioner.

Dr. Carelli completed her Pre-Doctoral Internship at The Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders. She was previously the coordinator for the Help Desk at the Sidran Institute for Traumatic Stress, where she directed survivors across the US to competent, trauma-informed care.
