Personal Statement

As a licensed psychologist in the Cow Hollow district of San Francisco, I specialize in working with individuals, couples, and families using an existential-psychoanalytic approach. This approach, which is heavily influenced by the philosophies of Jean-Paul Sartre, Martin Heidegger, Friedrich Nietzsche, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Hannah Arrendt, and the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud, Wilfried Bion, Donald Winnicott, and Michael Guy Thompson and R.D. Laing, focuses on the most personal aspects of our lives, including our relationships, choices, desires, and experiences. Through this approach, I endeavor to understand what may have gone wrong in a patient's life and what they need to live the life they truly want.

I earned my PsyD from the California Institute for Integral Studies and have received extended post-doctoral training in existential-psychoanalysis with Michael Guy Thompson, PhD and Free Association Inc. I currently serve as the Associate Director of the New School for Existential Psychoanalysis and my doctoral dissertation, "What is The Lived Experience of Fully Integrating the Benefits of MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy for PTSD?" delves into the therapeutic applications of psychedelics. I am also available to discuss psychedelic experiences as part of therapy.

The road to therapy can be a difficult one, as it requires a great deal of courage to confront the parts of our lives that we may find uncomfortable or painful. However, working with a therapist can be one of the most rewarding experiences a person can have. Through therapy, we can confront our fears, find solutions to seemingly impossible problems, grieve losses, improve our relationships and find more love and passion in life. My approach, which combines existential philosophy and psychoanalytic ideas, is designed to be both pragmatic and "deep", and I believe that it can provide a personal and unique perspective on one's life. I understand that starting therapy can be daunting, but I assure
