Personal Statement
My primary practice is working with transgender and non-binary adults, providing Gender Affirming support and support with medical transition. I also work with clients to help in other areas, including depression and anxiety, grief and loss, low self-esteem, and issues around sexual orientation, social and financial stress, and oppression. The goal in my work is to help clients identify what would help them feel fulfilled in their lives, work through internal and external obstacles they are experiencing, and take steps towards those goals. I have specific experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals, lawyers, artists, and teachers.
My goal as a therapist is to help you identify what your own meaningful, fulfilling life looks like and to work through the obstacles to live that life. A big part of this may be identifying the unhelpful thoughts, feelings and narratives getting in your way and learning how to take some power away from them so that you can engage in committed actions towards your goals. I do this using an eclectic approach, combining elements of Acceptance & Commitment (ACT), Narrative, and Existential therapies.
I earned my social work degree at the NYU Silver School of Social Work and have a background in political science and law which I bring into the therapy mix as well. I have significant professional and personal experience working with the LGBTQ+ Community in particular, including several years volunteering with Identity House, an all-volunteer peer counseling group in NYC (two of those years as Executive Director, but all of them as a peer counselor and group facilitator). I am also a writer and learning to play the Oboe.
I currently have on-line sessions on Tuesday through Saturday.
