Personal Statement

Chao Zhao is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT 126562), Art and sex therapist in greater Los Angeles. She received her Master of Arts degree in Marital and Family Therapy with Specialized Training in Art Therapy from Loyola Marymount University. Chao has worked with children, youths, adults, and families to find their personal strengths and develop better relationships. Her clients and mentors describe her as a trustworthy, attentive, and authentic person.

At Togetherness Therapy, Chao is supervised by Dr. Rossana Sida, to further her knowledge on sex and relationship therapy. She is skillful and sensitive about creating a safe space tailored for each client to explore their emotional needs, identify strengths, and overcome challenges. Chao works collaboratively with her clients and focuses on issues related to learning difficulties, social/parenting skills, intimate relationship issues, sexual desire discrepancies, sexual identity/orientation, sexual trauma, and cross-cultural challenges. Chao offers treatment in art therapy combined with talk therapy to promote freedom in expression, self-awareness, and coping strategies.
