Personal Statement

Avi Steinhardt has over a decade of experience working with patients with dispositions that span the mental health continuum from relationship issues, anxiety and mood disorders to psychosis and substance abuse. Avi utilizes a dynamic blend of interventions (Gestalt, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, CBT, and others) tailored to each patient's needs and presentation.

Gestalt Therapy, though not particularly "in fashion" since the 70's, drew me in because of its existential and humanistic approach, its focus on the "here and now", its ability to easily accommodate other interventions, and its assertion that as therapists we can never truly know another's experience.

So instead of analyzing you, I pay attention to what is happening with you in this moment, and invite you to do the same- in therapy, in your relationships, in the choices you make, and the life you are living. It is in this space that change can occur.
