Personal Statement
I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology in Secondary Education from McNeese State University in 2009 and received my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Louisiana State University in 2016. After graduate school, I work in the Beauregard Parish School System as an Assistant Principal, where I currently serve at a local elementary school. During my 13 years in education, I found his passion for counseling. I received my second Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern State University in 2023, where I fell in love with counseling, particularly marriage/couples therapy.
I use person-centered, reality therapy, and emotion-focused theories to guide my practice. In marriage/couples therapy, I also utilize the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship. I genuinely value the importance of building rapport with clients and supporting clients in finding a good fit for them based on their treatment needs and goals. I believe in the inherent resilience of the human spirit and embrace an individual's power of choice when working with individuals experiencing challenges and stressors. I hope to help you engage and enhance your capacity for introspection, reflection, and self-awareness to understand better and navigate your past, present, and future, allowing you to feel empowered and hopeful despite the trials and tribulations you go through in this life.
I promote and embrace the practice of mindfulness and gratitude, the value of human connection, and the importance of finding meaning in one’s life. In my free time, I enjoy reading, meditating, learning new counseling concepts, trying new foods, watching movies, and spending time with my wife and blended family of three children.
I am available through Lake Area Counseling for in-person counseling and online teletherapy services.
