Personal Statement
It’s easy to lose perspective in the presence of stress, loss, or a traumatic event. Self-discovery and awareness is essential to the healing process. I use art therapy—writing, music, sculpting, painting, collage, etc.—and traditional talk therapy to unearth unhealthy habits, thoughts, and behaviors, which lead to a better understanding of how to progress. I have found that when people use artistic and creative expression, they discover hidden attitudes they may have regarding themselves, their needs, and their relationships. It is a learning experience, and everyone can experience revelation through this process.
Even if you may shy away from this modality, at first, you may find that it will lead you to unlock latent information and lead you toward resolution and renewal. In my 20 years’ experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, I have seen the beautiful progress these modalities offer.
My experience in outpatient and inpatient programs, schools and in home settings has solidified my skills to helping others to manage their relationships, work efforts and school attendance.
