Personal Statement

When I was around 12 years old I decided I wanted to work with children and families; you could say I felt called to this field, and made up my little mind to go to Brigham Young University and major in Child and Family Studies. Ever since I was a kid I loved being with kids. I loved babysitting and one of my first jobs was at a daycare. I loved playing with the children, not just sitting on the sidelines or the couch. I started working with children who needed more support and accommodations as a senior in college, realized I needed to work in this field forever and have been working with children professionally since 1998.

I’m not a stranger to difficult times. I have experienced the overwhelming and sometimes debilitating effects of anxiety and depression. I have felt the power of a strong family support system and been crushed when family falls short. I get it. And I love to help families and homes be the support and haven they are meant to be.
