About

Hi there, I'm Willie! Hello, I'm Will Palmer, and I am licensed in the State of Georgia as a Professional Counselor (LPC). I have been practicing in the field as both a direct service provider and administrator for 24 years. I take a client-centered approach to therapy allowing the client(s) to define his/her/their goals. I create a safe and warm environment so that clients can feel comfortable sharing their stories. A variety of tools are provided to fit individual needs, and assistance is provided with decision-making to obtain the desired outcomes. My approach My approach to therapy includes taking an eclectic approach by using principles from Cognitive Therapy, Person-Centered, Family Systems, and Solution Focused Therapy approaches. My primary approach is Cognitive Therapy which emphasizes changing the way one thinks in an effort to positively impact emotions and behaviors. My focus I work with individual adults, adolescents, couples, and families. I have worked extensively with at-risk adolescents and families in all settings including schools, home-based programs, the Department of Juvenile Justice/Children and Families Services, and Residential and Out-patient Mental Health Centers. I also work with adults with a variety of emotional issues including depression, anxiety, stress, anger, relationship issues, and grief. I also work with couples utilizing assessment tools for pre-marital and marital issues. My communication style I view therapy as an empathic art form. I seek to connect with each individual where they are and walk with them to their destination through that connection. I've been told very consistently by clients that they feel relaxed, comfortable, and not judged. I try to create an atmosphere where clients can feel safe and connected. My journey to therapy I became a therapist because I wanted to become better equipped to pursue my goals of helping people.
