About
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia with 15 years of behavioral health experience. I’ve worked in various settings that include community-based outpatient clinics, hospitals, private practice as well as a health insurance company and university. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Master of Science Degree in Community Counseling.
My experience includes helping individuals, couples, families, and military veterans with concerns such as stress and anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, career difficulties, and substance use. I've also had the pleasure of teaching as an adjunct instructor, undergraduate social science courses to adult learners. A few of the courses I’ve taught were Interpersonal Relations, Conflict Resolution, Life Span Development and Psychopathology.
My approach to therapy is collaborative in nature. It is my belief that client and counselor both play an integral role in the process of therapy and input from both is vital to its overall success. I’ve trained in several evidence-based practices and routinely incorporate into sessions, the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as well as Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques. I am also a trained Prepare/Enrich facilitator.
As a veteran of the U.S Army, I’ve had the pleasure of serving my country honorably in various locations stateside and overseas. During which time I was afforded numerous opportunities to meet, work, and live with people of all different racial, socioeconomic, educational, religious, and political backgrounds. As such, I consider multi-cultural counseling as not only a component of my work with clients, but rather a deliberate priority and focus.
I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!
