Hello, my name is Tim. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan, with 6 years of work experience as a School Counselor/Therapist. The bulk of my experience has been centered in working with children and adolescents, with a focus on grief and loss, life transition, race issues, anxiety, and men's issues. When I was younger and asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was always, "I just want to be a person that other people can talk to." My career as a counselor has fulfilled my childhood goals and dreams. It takes so much courage and self-awareness to recognize when we need support, especially emotional support. I am continuously humbled in my role, to serve as a guide to growth and the re-introduction of understanding, into a person's life. As a counselor, I am committed to providing my clients with a non-judgemental space to be vulnerable, safe, and supported. My counseling style focuses on helping derive meaning from the stories my clients share, centering them as the experts in their experience, and providing constructive support, skills, and strategies to assist in their processing. I believe it is everyone's responsibility to protect the basic human rights and freedoms of all people without discrimination. Sessions are set for the client to lead the space, without an imposition of my personal values, cultural beliefs, or upbringing. I provide equitable services to a diverse population of clients, and will not discriminate based on race/ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, job status, or religion.
