Hi my name is Tiara Mitchell and my goal as a clinician is to provide my clients with support, guidance, and tools to significantly improve their overall mental health. In addition to my Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work, I have gained experience practicing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate (LCASA) in mental health facilities. Furthermore, I have held many positions including working as a Behavioral Health Licensed Team Lead, Outpatient therapist, Field Instructor, PRN therapist in a behavioral hospital, and a Behavior Specialist in a school setting.

My counseling style is warm and I am very open-minded. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I apply developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions and methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing to children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups with appropriate regard for the complexity of given.

My job responsibilities included crisis intervention and response, conducting clinical assessments, facilitating individual, family, and group counseling sessions for individuals of all ages utilizing evidence-based interventions, assessing mental status, completing suicide and violent risk assessments, collaborating with other professionals as part of an integrated behavioral team, and supporting individuals in the development of various skill building activities, including socialization and conflict-resolution skills. I have been able to utilize my skills to examine issues including stress management, anxiety, defiant disorders, substance use, anger management, lack of motivation, depression, relationships, self-love, life changes, ADHD, and bullying.
