About
Tendra is nationally certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NCC) to provide mental health counseling to clients. Additionally, she is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia with a total of 5 years of experience working as a behavioral health counselor in a psychiatric hospital setting and as a family & child therapist in an outpatient counseling center setting that treats couples, children, teens, families, and individuals. Furthermore, Tendra has provided individual counseling and group therapy in a veteran hospital setting over the course of her years in the counseling field. She has had the wonderful opportunity of working with clients with a wide range of issues/problems that have included the areas of depression, anxiety, grief, self-esteem and confidence, couples, mood & psychotic disorders, familial and romantic relationships, anger, control, stressors, and trauma (physical, sexual, mental/psychological, emotional, abandonment, neglect, military sexual, and combat). Tendra's approach combines client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavior, solution-focused, mindfulness, psychodynamic, acceptance & commitment, non-trauma focused (client does not talk about the trauma in detail), and trauma-focused (the client talks about their trauma in detail). Tendra is trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidenced-based therapy modality that treats persons that live with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and individuals that have not been diagnosed with PTSD but have experienced problems from trauma. Tendra thoroughly enjoys acknowledging clients' positive characteristics through strengths-based counseling. Her counseling style is genuine, non-judgmental, warm, and respectful; displaying empathy to clients is a must, and she expresses to clients that I care. Tendra believes in respecting everyone’s opinions and ways of thinking, as everyone comes from different upbringings and have had various life experiences that she believes contribute to their current way of living. She ensures each client has an individualized treatment plan in order to effectively facilitate change. Tendra's goal as your counselor is to treat you with the utmost respect, provide support, express empowerment, and deliver evidence-based therapies in order for you to meet your goals and help you live in accordance with your values. You are very courageous and brave to reach out for help, desiring to overcome challenges, and wanting to make progress for a better quality of life.
