Hello! my name is Tawanna Lewis. I am a professional counselor licensed in Georgia for the past 7 years; and 20 years of experience within the mental health profession. I initially started working with child/adolescent population across different settings, including outpatient and in-home services. Currently, I provide services to adults of all ages, including geriatric population. Although I have experience in working with clients that were faced with various challenges, my areas of specialty includes trauma (sexual, physical, emotional, and natural disasters); life-changes/lifespan; anxiety; self-esteem/self-worth; family conflict; and finding meaning. My services includes both individual, family, and group therapy. Specific treatment approach are addressed with each individual client; however, my therapeutic approach are Cognitive Behavior Therapy; Solution Focused Therapy; Cognitive Processing Therapy; or Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.

I have a Masters in Community Counseling (MACC); a Certification in Marriage and Family Therapy (CMFT); and in 2017, I became a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). On my journey, I found an interest in trauma as my primary speciality, after I noticed how traumatic events contributed towards many unwanted behaviors and unpleasant circumstances in a person's life. I feel "healing" includes working through personal trauma which can also help in overcoming those surface issues that tend to weigh us down (e.g. stress; depression; anxiety). It continues to be a rewarding opportunity being able to assist clients in working through one of the most difficult times in their lives; and watching them make progress during their treatment. I feel each individual client has the ability to meet their personal goals in treatment by remaining committed to the process and doing "the work" . My role in our therapeutic relationship is to provide guidance; transparency; insight; and patience.
