Welcome to Find A Therapist! You have taken the COURAGEOUS first step. My name is Tangela Mills. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas. I obtained my Masters of Social Work from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2012, and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a Minor in Biology from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. I chose to become a clinical social worker because of my passion for helping others, and realizing that I have a greater calling to help individuals through difficult times to become the best version of themselves through their individual journey to self –actualization through motivation, empowerment, and honest communication.
As a licensed social worker, I have worked with diverse populations in a variety of settings including Army programs, domestic violence shelters, inpatient and outpatient hospital settings providing individual and group therapy helping children, adults, soldiers, and Veterans experiencing issues including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief, substance abuse, and trauma related issues due to war, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, loss, substance use, and others.
I believe effective therapy begins with a strong therapeutic alliance and trust between the client and therapist, and creating an environment free of judgement that welcomes transparency. My approach to therapy is client-centered. I take my cues from you throughout the treatment process. Some of the evidence based interventions that I use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy, along with my experience and clinical judgement.
