About
Hi, I am an engaging therapist with more than ten (10) years of experience working with individuals from a wide range of cultural groups and backgrounds. I have worked in residential, school, office, home, and telemedicine settings. I finished my master’s degree in 1989 and my PhD in 2015, all while working fulltime helping clients to build, rebuild, manage, and cope with their lives. I have worked with people who struggled with a wide variety of concerns including psychological/psychiatric issues, psychosocial difficulties, family of origin stressors, low self-esteem, depression, sexual abuse, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders, chemical and behavioral addiction, and the list goes on and on. Still, I have never worked with anyone who was beyond hope or improvement. I want people everywhere to know that circumstances can always be improved with support and work. I also want people to know that sometimes a change in one's perspective and/or awareness is the key to managing and coping with one's circumstances.
My goal regarding treatment always involves helping the client to manage or cope with their circumstances in a way that is comfortable for them. It is always my desire to empower the client to live their best life. Certainly, I want to help them to navigate from a less adaptive state-of-being to a more functional state-of-being. I always want my clients to know that I offer a safe space for them to be themselves, express their views, give voice to their emotions, and be accepted without fear of judgement. I am always hopeful that together, we can work to establish or renew self-love, self-acceptance, and self-care as the basis for personal growth and improvement.
I am available to therapeutically engage clients regarding their issues and concerns over the phone, live chat, and video session. I have session available Tuesday thru Friday as well as Saturday and Sunday afternoon to accommodate your busy schedule. You may call me between 8:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. EST. If I do not answer immediately, I am usually in-session, but you can leave me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. If you call after 6:00 P.M. EST, I will get back to you the following day if not sooner.
My counseling style is warm, engaging, interactive, respectful, compassionate, and understanding. I tend to be very accepting and grateful that clients have the courage and desire to reach out for help and support. My approach is a combination of Cognitive Behavioral, Rational-Emotive, Client Centered, Existential, Solution-Focused, Reality, and Narrative Therapies. I work with my clients to develop treatment goals to meet their individual needs. If you are ready to move toward positive and growth-producing change and acceptance, I am ready to help you formulate and facilitate your goals.
