What's going on?! My name is Prell and I'm a licensed professional counselor in the state of Virginia. I've been in the field for 10 years and practicing as a licensed clinician now for 3 years. I'm a proud HOKIE! and graduate of Radford University where I received degrees in Psychology, Spanish, and Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Assessment. Counseling is not just a job to me, but more an extension of self. I've always enjoyed helping people, specifically helping people better learn how to help themselves. The goal is to support you so well and help you grow through things, that you eventually need much less intervention or can transition out of services successfully because you've gained the skills and built the resilience needed to handle life's challenges.

My approach to counseling is eclectic and holistic, using techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Person-centered treatment, Reality Therapy techniques, the all very common CBT, components of DBT, and Post-Modern practices such as Solution-Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy. The latter two of which help a person improve their ability to focus on solutions instead of problems, enhance their use of solutions that already work, and own their story in order to re-author it in a way that's empowering! In my services, you get a dynamic counselor who's laid-back yet focused, enjoys the use of humor, and brings comfort to counseling by creating a safe-space for discussion that allows you to open-up in the capacity most comfortable for you.

I'm a big family and friendmily guy, love watching and playing sports, and avid fan of cooking. You can often find me spending time with my family, grilling and smoking meats in my downtime, playing with my Shepherd mix and Rottweiler pup, or on the sticks of my gaming systems. I look forward to working with you and helping you find the holistic balance you need in better managing your mental health to achieve your goals.
