Hi there, I'm Silva! My name is Silva Sheklanian. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist practicing out of California. My work focuses primarily on both trauma and attachment. I am EMDR trained as well as attachment-based trained. My approach I am trauma-informed, as such my approach is very much client-centered. I use both CBT and EMDR in my sessions to support my clients toward their goals. I am also trained in Theraplay to support clients towards attachment building with family members (specifically their children). My focus I typically work with adults who are currently struggling with PTSD symptoms due to past trauma. I am most comfortable treating PTSD/CPTSD. I also enjoy working with women who are experiencing life-changing events such as pregnancy, a new baby, divorce, retirement, or new job placement. My communication style I will provide an environment where my client feels safe, heard, and cared for. I believe it's vital to validate and acknowledge a client's circumstance and support them in feeling secure within themselves. My journey to mental healthcare I knew I was destined to be a clinician in high school. I was the friend that others sought out because of my non-judgmental and nurturing persona. I wholeheartedly believe that childhood trauma is a gateway drug to anxiety, depression, substance abuse, gambling, and all things that will cause the breakdown of healthy relationships. This is what drives me; helping people break through their past traumas and notice that their past does not define them. That they are capable of doing great things because they are great! My goals for you I typically will ask a client what they are seeking to gain from therapy, and how will they know when they have reached their goals in their treatment.
