I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Missouri with over 8 years of experience in providing direct mental health care and behavioral counseling. I have worked with adults, in a variety of settings, to address issues of anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse, parenting, anger management, domestic violence, life transitions, workplace issues, grief and loss, relationship problems and family issues. I am a passionate therapist who wants to help my clients successfully navigate the roadblocks and obstacles in their lives that are inhibiting their ability to manifest the best version of themselves.
My experience is diverse and is comprised of work in private practice, social service and non-profit settings. My therapeutic approach consists of utilizing the cognitive behavioral therapy model to help my clients learn coping skills, adaptive thinking and the learning of concepts such as mindfulness, awareness of experience and breathing exercises to cope with life's stressors. In addition, I also incorporate elements of the strengths perspective and motivational interviewing.
My guess is that talking to someone you do not know about things that make you uncomfortable, sad, angry or embarrassed can be difficult, but you've already taken the first step. I assure you this process is here to help you grow. There are certain elements that are necessary in therapy in order to maintain a space of positivity, growth, and healing. Yet, you are not responsible for maintaining those elements. That is my job as the therapist! I'm dedicated to maintaining a judgment-free space that is challenging but comforting, and a process that is enlightening and enriching.
