Shannon Hannigan-Jackson is a Licensed Clinical Professional who has been in the mental health field since 2008 in a variety of settings. Shannon found herself drawn to community, local, and regional mental health centers. As well as outpatient, private practice, institutions, day centers, and programs in both non-profit and profit agencies. She received her master's degree in Clinical Professional Psychology from Roosevelt University in 2009.
Shannon believes that helping clients develop self-awareness and coping skills to manage problems as they arise . She utilizes mindfulness and acceptance strategies, and other DBT techniques. She also uses cognitive behavioral skills to assist clients in making positive choices and changes to help clients live their best and most authentic life. She believes that with skills and support, it will help the client create a more stabilized foundation, which will allow problems to become more manageable to the client. Client-centered and brief solution focused models are two therapeutic models that allow the client to take control of the therapy so that they can achieve their goals. Shannon knows that counseling is a very personal journey. The dedication it takes for a client to begin this journey, Shannon is dedicated to guiding clients with dignity, respect, and empathy.
Shannon brings her expertise and experience with mood disorders, such as bi-polar, depression, as well as anxiety, and personality disorders. Shannon also brings many years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families, running the spectrum from families in crisis to those dealing with challenges with family dynamics. Shannon also has many years of experience dealing with relationship problems, career dissatisfaction, life dysfunctions, chronic illness, end of life and helping families deal with their loved ones celestial graduation. Shannon also worked with clients dealing with grief and loss, psychosis, adjustment disorders, and those struggling to deal with life's inevitable changes. Shannon has found a personal and professional passion for working with clients who identify with or are a part of a growing LGBTQ+ community. Shannon found herself unexpectedly on a personal journey and connection to this community that welcomed her and her family with open arms.
Shannon works for all ages, individuals, couples, and families. She engages in both individual and group therapy for multiple ages and disorders. Shannon believes that regardless of the type of therapy, creating a safe and comforting environment allows clients to explore and discover in order to navigate and thrive in all of life's challenges so they may be their most genuine and authentic self.
