No one knows you better than yourself. Be proud of this first step of taking care of yourself. Hi, My name is Shakera Garrard. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have 7 years of experience working as a therapist. I am also board certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NCC). My focus is to implement a client-centered approach. I believe the most important approach is to provide a non-judgmental and safe space for all of my clients. It is important to not pressure my clients to convey what is uncomfortable but to help them process their feelings and empower clients to do what is best for them in their daily lives. I have worked with adults that have experienced trauma, grief, depression, relationship issues, family conflicts, self-image issues, anxiety, peer pressure, and so much more. I implement a variety of techniques that includes, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused theory, mindfulness techniques, grounding techniques, and more. I believe in the importance of clients having a voice, so they are able to be heard and understood.
